About The Position

As a Cookie Crew Member at Insomnia Cookies’ Lynchburg bakery, you serve as a front-of-store contact for guests and prepare the bakery’s cookies and other treats. The role combines baking, hospitality, order fulfillment, and keeping the bakery clean, stocked, organized, and food-safe. Shifts are team-oriented and fast-paced, with peak business during evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Team members should be available during these peak hours; scheduling needs vary by location.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to obtain any food safety certifications required for the location.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8 hours per shift.
• Ability to frequently reach, bend, stoop, twist, kneel, and lift.
• Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to use hands and fingers to handle bakery equipment, food products, and a point-of-sale system.
• Ability to work around varying temperatures, including ovens, freezers, and refrigeration units.
• Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment in accordance with company procedures.
• Ability to read order screens, recipes, and safety information.
• Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members in a fast-paced environment.
• Availability during peak business hours, including evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests with genuine hospitality and make their interactions memorable.
• Prepare, bake, and package cookies, brownies, ice cream, and other treats to Insomnia Cookies’ quality standards.
• Accurately prepare in-store, pickup, delivery, and online orders.
• Operate the register and process guest transactions.
• Keep the bakery clean, stocked, organized, and food-safe throughout each shift.
• Support teammates and bakery operations by restocking supplies and helping keep the line moving.
• Resolve guest concerns with empathy and urgency, partnering with the Shift Leader when needed.
• Create a guest experience that encourages customers to return.
