About The Position

The Cook prepares and/or directs the preparation of food for service, complying with applicable sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards and following established food production programs and procedures. The role uses facility supplies and equipment appropriately to minimize loss and waste. This position has no supervisory responsibilities. The position is part-time and located at Sun City South Club in Sun City Center, Florida. The listed shift is nights and weekends. The work takes place in a kitchen environment and involves frequent exposure to heat, steam, fire, and noise.

Requirements

Prior cooking experience.
High school diploma or GED.
Ability to stand for extended periods and bend, stretch, and reach.
High standards of integrity and reliability.
Occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities

Prepare or direct the preparation of food using established production procedures and systems.
Determine the amount and type of food and supplies required using production systems.
Ensure food and supplies, including approved substitutions, are available in adequate time for preparation.
Comply with sanitation, personal hygiene, and health standards; observe proper food preparation and handling techniques.
Store food safely and properly, marking the date and item.
Report equipment repair and maintenance needs to a supervisor.
Prepare food according to standard recipes and special diet orders.
Plan food production around meal service hours to preserve food quality, temperature, and appearance.
Maintain daily production records.
Keep the work area neat and clean.
Clean and maintain food preparation equipment.
Complete food temperature checks before service.
Use facility supplies and equipment appropriately to minimize loss and waste.
