About The Position

We are seeking a Cook II with restaurant experience to join our team. This is a line cook position requiring a higher skill set, strong time management, and organizational skills. The Cook II is responsible for the bulk of food production, including soups, stocks, sauces, main dishes, starches, and vegetables. They must be familiar with the 7 methods of cooking, understand and follow recipes, and be proficient in executing basic culinary tasks. The role involves working collaboratively with front and back-of-house teams, adhering to strict food handling, HACCP, labeling, and storage protocols, and maintaining a culture of safety. Communication with community departments and Home Office support is essential, as is active participation in planning meetings and in-service training.

Requirements

  • Restaurant experience.
  • Familiarity with the 7 methods of cooking.
  • Ability to read and follow a recipe.
  • Ability to execute basic soups, stocks, and sauces.
  • Ability to meet or exceed the company’s attendance and punctuality standards.
  • Ability to use miscellaneous software and office equipment.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions as given.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English fluently.

Nice To Haves

  • Culinary training a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the bulk of food production including but not limited to soups, stocks, sauces, main dishes, starches, and vegetables.
  • Familiar and able to execute the 7 methods of cooking.
  • Review station, opening, closing, and prep lists.
  • Know what is expected each day while on that station.
  • Read and follow a recipe.
  • Execute basic soups, stocks, and sauces.
  • Acquire skills on each of the cooking stations listed in the Pathway.
  • Obtain Chef sign off on refined knife cuts.
  • Work in a collaborative manner with the front and back of the house team members, ensuring compliance with Senior Living Communities’/Wellmore standards for quality, presentation and portion control are met.
  • Adhere to all proper handling, HACCP, labeling, and storage protocols for all foods and ensure compliance with all relevant food service regulations.
  • Follow all safety protocols and consistently practice a culture of safety.
  • Maintain documentation of temperature charts and records.
  • Maintain an open communication and professional working relationship with all community departments and Home Office support team.
  • Actively participate in planning and production meetings with the team.
  • Attend and actively participate in required in-service training and education programs.
  • Other duties as assigned and directed by the Executive Chef or Director of Dining Services.
