CONCESSION FOOD SERVICE (ON CALL)
About The Position
The Concession Food Service associate sells food and beverages to customers at events at Hofstra University. The role involves serving customers efficiently and courteously, processing sales and payments, and maintaining the concession area in accordance with sanitation and safety requirements. This is an on-call position; days and hours may vary, with additional schedule details provided during the interview. Training is provided, and the schedule is described as flexible. The position pays $19.50 to $20.00 per hour. Work may be unavailable during educational facility breaks when food service needs decline or cease; such periods may be unpaid temporary layoffs. Depending on business needs, year-round work may be required, potentially at a different location during break periods.
Requirements
- Prior food service and concessions experience is preferred, but not stated as required.
- Qualified candidates must be able to perform the essential functions satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities
- Sell concessions, including soft drinks and food items, to customers at events.
- Serve customers efficiently and in a friendly manner, following outlined service steps.
- Interact with customers, resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner, and relay relevant information to a supervisor.
- Process sales in a reasonable and timely fashion and enter them into the cash register accurately.
- Make change, accept approved forms of payment, and issue receipts.
- Follow standard cash-handling procedures and ensure assigned change funds and cash receipts comply with overage and shortage standards.
- Replenish condiments and general supplies and maintain cleanliness of the concession area.
- Comply with sanitation and safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
