Onsite Computer Technician
About The Position
The Computer Technician works onsite at the facility in Highland Park, Michigan, under general supervision. The role performs analytical, technical, and administrative work related to planning, designing, maintaining, and installing new and existing personal computer systems. It provides level 1 triage and onsite support for telecommunications, systems, and networking, and works on moderately complex applications. The technician consults end users about hardware and software requirements, selects software from the software stack, installs new hardware, and maintains existing hardware. The role also supports work-from-home agents and executive staff.
Requirements
- At least 1–2 years of experience as a personal computer technician supporting a large user environment.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot user issues remotely.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, OneDrive, and Teams.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, personal computer application software, printers, and networking cabling.
- Expertise with remote support tools, such as Bomgar, Terminal Servers, or VMware.
- 1–2 years of hands-on experience with networking and Active Directory.
- Advanced knowledge of personal computer hardware and peripherals.
Responsibilities
- Install and configure personal computer hardware, software applications, and peripherals.
- Provide support to senior management and executives.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Install and configure operating systems, including Microsoft, Unix, and Linux.
- Troubleshoot common Windows 10 software and hardware problems.
- Troubleshoot network and systems connectivity issues involving routers, switches, circuits, servers, wireless systems, and related equipment.
- Provide level 1 triage and onsite support for telecommunications, systems, and networking.
- Support work-from-home agents and executive staff.
- Consult with end users to determine hardware and software requirements and select appropriate software.
- Install new hardware and maintain existing hardware.
