Computer Repair Technician - Davis/Weber County
About The Position
PC Laptops is hiring a Computer Repair Technician to diagnose and repair Windows desktops and laptops for customers in a fast-paced shop in Riverdale or Layton, Utah. The technician uses diagnostic software to identify hardware failures, installs and upgrades Windows operating systems, and sources appropriate drivers and software. The role also involves helping customers in person with hardware and software, printer setup and drivers, email, and general operating-system questions. PC Laptops describes a path for advancement from technician to Senior Technician, then to Assistant Manager or Manager as positions become available. The company offers a starting wage of $12 per hour plus performance bonuses, and states that most technicians reach senior-level pay of $14 or more per hour within their first 30 days.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 18 years old.
- Reliable daily transportation.
- Ability to lift and carry computer equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Strong work ethic and drive to succeed.
- Ability to learn from and apply the practices of experienced technicians.
- Clear communication skills and ability to stay sharp under pressure.
- Self-motivation and ability to manage multiple repairs at once.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair Windows desktops and laptops using diagnostic software to identify hardware failures.
- Install and upgrade Windows operating systems and source the appropriate drivers and software for each build.
- Assist customers in person with hardware, software, printer setup and drivers, email, and general operating-system questions.
