About The Position

Family Promise of the Big Bend is a nonprofit organization committed to preventing and ending homelessness among Veterans and their families through the VA Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program. We deliver housing-focused, Veteran-centered services rooted in Housing First principles, collaboration, and accountability. The Compliance and Training Manager ensures full compliance with VA Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program requirements and supports high-quality service delivery through staff training, monitoring, and continuous quality improvement. This position is responsible for overseeing program documentation, data integrity, policy and procedure implementation, and staff compliance with SSVF regulations, VA guidance, and organizational standards.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience of onboarding and training new employees.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply grant regulations and program guidance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, public administration, nonprofit management, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in compliance, quality assurance, training, or program administration within a grant-funded human services program.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in SSVF, HUD COC, other Veteran homelessness programs, or other human service fields.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SSVF program requirements and case management best practices.
  • Familiarity with HMIS data standards and reporting requirements.
  • Experience in rural and urban outreach.
  • Background in state and federal program structure and monitoring, medical case management or analysis, or hotline operations.
  • Experience supporting audits, monitoring visits, or funder reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate collection, storage, retention, and backup of all SSVF participant documentation, HMIS/VA data entry, and supporting records in compliance with VA requirements and organizational policies.
  • Conduct routine and targeted participant file reviews to ensure eligibility, service documentation, and housing outcomes meet SSVF standards.
  • Monitor compliance with SSVF Program Guide requirements, VA regulations, NOFO guidance, and internal policies.
  • Support grant compliance, including preparation for VA monitoring visits, audits, and desk reviews.
  • Identify compliance gaps, document findings, and support corrective action planning and implementation.
  • Track regulatory and programmatic updates from the VA and support program alignment with new guidance.
  • Develop, maintain, and update SSVF policies, operational procedures, and internal controls to ensure regulatory compliance with Coordinated Entry and best practices in Veteran homelessness services to ensure consistency in service delivery.
  • Assist leadership with quality improvement initiatives and compliance planning.
  • Design, implement, and facilitate engaging onboarding and ongoing training programs related to SSVF. Maintain comprehensive training materials, manuals, and records of training activities and staff participation.
  • Routinely shadow SSVF staff to observe service delivery, documentation practices, and adherence to program policies and procedures.
  • Provide coaching, technical assistance, and feedback to improve compliance, consistency, and service quality.
  • Document staff performance observations and report findings and recommendations to the department supervisor.
