About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU) partners with nonprofit organizations that improve the quality of life for community residents. This position is a partnership with the Phoenix Center for the Arts, which focuses on community improvement initiatives including arts-based community development projects, neighborhood revitalization, and providing space for community members to engage in positive recreational activities. This role is part of the Federal Work-Study Community Service Learning Program (FWS-CSLP), meaning the services provided are open and accessible to the community, particularly low-income individuals, and aim to solve problems related to their needs. Applicants must have a FAFSA on file and be eligible for FWS. The work schedule is dependent on the needs of the Phoenix Center for the Arts, with a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year.

Requirements

  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a bachelor’s program or master’s program.
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
  • Have passion and willingness to help others succeed.
  • Possess strong ethics, integrity, and sense of responsibility.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Mentoring experience.
  • Ability to speak a second language.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in organizing and leading arts-based recreational activities that promote community engagement and well-being.
  • Support the implementation of free and reduced-cost classes.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for programs addressing the welfare of the underserved populations.
