About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU) partners with nonprofit organizations, specifically 501(c)(3) organizations, to enhance community well-being. This role involves working with the Phoenix Center for the Arts, located at 1202 N. 3rd Street, Phoenix, AZ, 85004, which focuses on community improvement through arts-based development, neighborhood revitalization, and providing spaces for positive recreational activities. This is a Community Service Learning Program (CSLP) position, meaning the services provided are designed to improve the quality of life for community residents, particularly low-income individuals, and are open and accessible to the public. As an approved Federal Work-Study (FWS) position, applicants must complete their FAFSA to be considered for eligibility. The work schedule is flexible, aligning with the operational needs of the Phoenix Center for the Arts, but is limited to a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year.

Requirements

  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a bachelor’s program or master’s program.
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
  • Have passion and willingness to help others succeed.
  • Possess strong ethics, integrity, and sense of responsibility.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Applicants must complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa to be reviewed for FWS-eligibility and awarded FWS.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Mentoring a plus.
  • Ability to speak a second language a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in organizing and leading arts-based recreational activities that promote community engagement and well-being.
  • Support the implementation of free and reduced-cost classes.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for programs addressing the welfare of the underserved populations.
