About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU) partners with nonprofit organizations, such as Angels on Patrol in Downtown Phoenix, to improve the quality of life for community residents. Angels on Patrol assists families in crisis by securing safety, providing basic needs, and connecting them to community resources. This CSLP student worker position is approved for Community Service and offers services to non-GCU community members. The work schedule is dependent on the needs of Angels on Patrol, with a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year. Eligibility for FWS (Federal Work-Study) requires applicants to complete their FAFSA. This role is designed to help students gain experience in crisis response and community resource connection.

Requirements

  • Enrolled at GCU in a bachelor’s program or master’s program full-time during fall/spring or half-time during summer.
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
  • Have passion and willingness to help others succeed.
  • Possess strong ethics, integrity, and sense of responsibility.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Applicants must complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa to be reviewed for FWS-eligibility and awarded FWS.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Mentoring a plus.
  • Ability to speak a second language a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the reporting Office and client to create a stabilization plan
  • Submit resource referrals for clients in need of additional resources
  • Collect and track case data and financial documents for each case
  • Assist with general administrative tasks and overall agency communications
  • Other duties as assigned
