About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU) partners with nonprofit organizations identified by the IRS as 501(c)(3) to improve the quality of life for community residents. GCU maintains a partnership with the Society of GCU CityServe, a Christian outreach ministry that mobilizes resources and collaborative partnerships to provide life-transformational solutions to individuals and families in need. This position is an FWS-CSLP approved role, meaning its services are open and accessible to non-GCU community members. The work schedule is dependent on GCU CityServe's hours of operation and needs, with a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year. CSLP student workers may be eligible to work during the summer. Applicants must complete their FAFSA to be reviewed for FWS-eligibility.

Requirements

  • Enrolled at GCU in a bachelor’s program or master’s program full-time during fall/spring or half-time during summer.
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
  • Have passion and willingness to help others succeed.
  • Possess strong ethics, integrity, and sense of responsibility.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Mentoring a plus.
  • Ability to speak a second language a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Identify items for repair.
  • Plan and execute repair efforts.
  • Revise repair procedures as needed.
  • Direct volunteers with repair and assembly efforts.
  • Ensure items are acceptable for donation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
