Commercial Sales & Business Development Manager

CertaPro Painters of Orland Park, Homewood, and Kankakee CountyPosen, IL
$60,000 - $150,000Hybrid

About The Position

CertaPro Painters® is hiring an experienced B2B sales professional to grow our commercial painting division across Chicago’s south and southwest suburbs. This is a hunter-focused role—not a position built around waiting for inbound leads. We need someone who can identify target accounts, reach decision-makers, earn trust, develop opportunities, and close profitable projects. Your primary responsibility is new business development. After the sale, you will remain the client’s relationship manager while partnering with our Operations Manager and field team. You will not run painting crews, but you will stay engaged from the first conversation through the final walk-through.

Requirements

  • Three or more years of successful B2B outside sales, business development, or commercial account-management experience.
  • A proven record of creating and closing opportunities you personally generated.
  • Confidence prospecting by phone, email, networking, and in-person outreach.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, follow-up, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to organize multiple prospects, estimates, and projects.
  • Experience using a CRM to track activity, pipeline, next steps, and forecasts.
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the territory.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in commercial painting, coatings, construction, facility services, building materials, estimating, or project management is strongly preferred.
  • A degree is welcome but not required. Proven performance and accountability matter more.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage a targeted prospect list and active sales pipeline.
  • Generate opportunities through cold calls, email outreach, networking, referrals, site visits, and industry relationships.
  • Develop relationships with property and facility managers, general contractors, and decision-makers in healthcare, industrial, municipal, educational, HOA, and multi-unit markets.
  • Conduct site visits, measurements, pre-bid meetings, and project walk-throughs.
  • Prepare accurate estimates and clear proposals covering labor, materials, equipment, schedules, and project expectations.
  • Present proposals, negotiate terms, ask for the business, and follow up until a decision is made.
  • Coordinate project handoffs and maintain client communication throughout production.
  • Build repeat business through strong service, referrals, professional events, client lunches, golf outings, and other appropriate networking opportunities.
