COLD FOOD (SALAD) (FULL TIME)
About The Position
The Cold Food (Salad) associate prepares and serves sandwiches, salads, and other cold food items. The role involves cutting delicatessen meats, vegetables, and cheeses using knives, other cutters, or a slicing machine. The associate follows production schedules and approved standards for quality, serving temperatures, portion control, merchandising, food storage, sanitation, and safety. The position is at MUSC Columbia Downtown, 2435 Forest Drive, Columbia, South Carolina 29204. The schedule is full time, with days that may vary from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and rotating weekends. The stated pay rate is $17.50 per hour.
Requirements
- Previous cooking experience is preferred.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities
- Obtain the daily production schedule and preparation requirements from the Chef.
- Prepare sandwich meats, cheeses, condiments, and salads according to approved production standards for quality, serving temperatures, and portion control.
- Stock and replenish deli and cold products and condiments according to merchandising guidelines.
- Carry pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from the workstation, stove, and refrigerator.
- Store food in designated areas using HACCP-compliant wrapping, dating, and rotation procedures.
- Clean, sanitize, and maintain counters, work surfaces, refrigeration units, and floors in preparation and serving areas.
- Slice meat, cheese, and vegetables to the designated thickness using a cutting board and slicing machine as needed.
- Interact with coworkers to support compliance with service standards, inventory procedures, and cash control procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with sanitation, ServSafe, and safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
