About The Position

As a Barista at Hy-Vee, you will provide customer service, prepare beverages and coffee shop products, maintain stock and cleanliness, and help ensure customers have a positive experience. The role is performed in a busy store coffee shop environment with pressure to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities. Training and support are provided; prior experience is not required. The anticipated starting wage is $15.00 to $18.75 per hour, depending on experience.

Requirements

Follow written and verbal instructions.
Use basic math skills, including simple addition and subtraction, counting, and recording.
Communicate clearly and helpfully with customers and teammates.
Stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy coffee shop environment.
Less than a high school diploma or equivalent is accepted.
Complete a pre-employment drug screen successfully as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide outstanding service, including learning customers’ names and helping make each visit positive.
Take orders at the counter and over the phone, help customers find products, and answer questions.
Prepare and replenish coffee shop products throughout the shift.
Monitor product freshness and appearance and follow or develop a production list to meet daily needs.
Handle food safely and maintain a clean, neat work area that meets department standards.
Check in and put away products and review invoices as needed.
Operate the department register and process payments where applicable.
Remove trash promptly and maintain a tidy department.
Work with teammates to provide a smooth, positive customer experience.
Follow Hy-Vee’s dress code, hygiene standards, and company policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
