About The Position

As a Barista at Hy-Vee, you will serve as a welcoming point of contact for customers while preparing beverages, stocking the coffee shop, and maintaining a clean, orderly department. The role is suited to someone who enjoys connecting with people, working in a fast-paced environment, and taking pride in their work. Prior experience is not required; training and support are provided.

Requirements

Follow written and verbal instructions.
Use basic math skills, including simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Communicate clearly and helpfully with customers and teammates.
Stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy coffee shop environment.
Less than a high school diploma or equivalent is accepted.

Up to six months of similar or related work experience.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide outstanding service, including learning customers’ names and helping make each visit positive.
Take customer orders in person and over the phone, help customers find products, and answer questions.
Prepare and replenish coffee shop products as needed.
Monitor product freshness and appearance and follow or develop a production list to meet daily needs.
Handle food safely and keep the work area clean, neat, and up to department standards.
Check in products, put them away, and review invoices as needed.
Operate the department register and process payments where applicable.
Remove trash promptly and maintain a tidy department.
Work with teammates to ensure a smooth, positive customer experience.
Follow Hy-Vee’s dress code, hygiene standards, and company policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
