About The Position

As a Barista at Hy-Vee, you will provide friendly customer service while preparing beverages, keeping the coffee shop stocked and clean, and ensuring customers receive the products they need. The role suits someone who enjoys connecting with people, working in a fast-paced environment, and taking pride in quality work. Prior experience is not required; training and support are provided.

Requirements

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills for simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Clear, friendly, and helpful communication with customers and teammates.
Ability to stay organized and keep pace in a busy coffee shop environment.
Less than a high school diploma or equivalent is accepted.

Nice To Haves

Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide outstanding service, including learning customers’ names and going the extra mile to make each visit positive.
Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone, help customers find products, and answer questions.
Prepare and replenish coffee shop products throughout the shift.
Monitor product freshness and appearance and follow or develop a production list to meet daily needs.
Handle food safely and keep the work area clean, neat, and up to department standards.
Check in and put away products and review invoices as needed.
Operate the department register and process payments where applicable.
Remove trash promptly and maintain a tidy department.
Work with teammates to ensure a smooth, positive customer experience.
Follow Hy-Vee’s dress code, hygiene standards, and company policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
