About The Position

Hy-Vee is seeking a customer-focused Coffee Shop Barista to prepare beverages and help provide customers with a friendly, positive experience. The role includes taking orders in person and by phone, answering questions, assisting customers with products, maintaining product freshness and availability, and keeping the coffee shop clean, stocked, and organized. No prior experience is required; training and support are provided. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills for simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Ability to communicate clearly and helpfully with customers and teammates.
Ability to stay organized and keep pace in a busy coffee shop environment.
Less than a high school diploma or equivalent experience is accepted.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen is a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide outstanding service, including learning customers’ names and going the extra mile to make visits positive.
Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone, help customers find products, and answer questions.
Prepare and replenish coffee shop products throughout the shift.
Monitor product freshness and appearance and follow or develop production lists to meet daily needs.
Handle food safely and maintain a clean, neat work area that meets department standards.
Check in products, put products away, and review invoices as needed.
Operate the department register and process payments where applicable.
Remove trash promptly and maintain a tidy department.
Work with teammates to ensure a smooth, positive customer experience.
Follow Hy-Vee’s dress code, hygiene standards, and company policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
