Cocktail Server - Part Time - Virginia
About The Position
The Cocktail Server greets casino guests and provides prompt, accurate, and courteous beverage service. The role involves taking and delivering drink orders, maintaining clean and orderly service areas, knowing available products and prices, and speaking knowledgeably with guests about the casino and its promotions. Servers help create a favorable gaming experience through attentive, spontaneous service and recommendations. This position operates in a large, fast-paced, 24/7 casino environment. It requires frequent movement throughout service areas, including carrying a tray, and exposure to alcohol, cigarette and cigar smoke, bright lights, loud noises, and adult language. Smoking is allowed in the workplace.
Requirements
- At least six months to one year of beverage-service experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to secure and maintain licensure required by the Virginia Gaming Control Board or another applicable regulatory entity, or required by Live’s operating standards.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand basic instructions in English.
- Ability to perform addition and subtraction, at a minimum.
- Ability to handle situations arising from intoxication and stressful situations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all departments and other team members.
- Ability to perform assigned duties in an interruptive environment under frequent time pressures.
- Knowledge of sanitation and health department regulations for safe handling of alcohol.
- Frequent standing and walking; ability to occasionally climb stairs.

Responsibilities
- Greet guests and provide prompt, accurate, and courteous service.
- Take and deliver accurate drink orders in a warm and welcoming manner.
- Serve orders accurately and expeditiously.
- Maintain clean and orderly service areas.
- Know products available for purchase and their prices.
- Know the casino facility and current and future casino promotions.
- Speak passionately with guests and maintain an approachable, helpful presence.
- Understand company policies and procedures regarding guests’ limitations.
- Maintain knowledge of alcoholic beverages, liquors, wines, beers, and ales.
- Maintain knowledge of general bar equipment, the Easy Bar System, ABC laws and regulations, and gaming laws.
- Help guests have a favorable gaming experience through unique and spontaneous service.
- Maintain excellent personal appearance.
- Upsell and recommend products to guests.
- Make change from sales and reconcile and balance sales at the conclusion of the shift.
- Maneuver strategically and efficiently throughout service areas while carrying a tray with service items.
- Handle situations that may arise due to intoxication and stressful circumstances.
- Communicate effectively with all departments and team members.
- Perform assigned duties in an interruptive environment under frequent time pressures.
- Follow sanitation and health department regulations for safe handling of alcohol.
- Demonstrate poise, dignity, and politeness in all actions.
