About The Position

Manhattan Psychology Group is accepting applications for its 2027–2028 Hybrid Counseling & Testing Track, a part-time, unpaid, 12-month clinical training placement for graduate trainees. The track combines evidence-based psychotherapy and comprehensive assessment experience, with a blended caseload tailored to trainee interests, competency development, referral volume, and program requirements. Trainees work with children, adolescents, adults, and families presenting with a range of developmental, behavioral, and emotional concerns, alongside a multidisciplinary team of licensed psychologists, social workers, and behavioral health professionals. Training includes psychotherapy, diagnostic assessment, consultation, test administration and interpretation, integrated report writing, feedback, educational consultation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Mental health experiences may include individual and family therapy, parent training, groups, intake evaluations, school consultation, and crisis assessment and safety planning when appropriate. Assessment experiences may include neuropsychological, psychological, psychoeducational, autism, and developmental evaluations. Trainees also have opportunities to observe and collaborate with providers across services such as ABA, PCIT, PMT, executive functioning coaching, behavioral tutoring, and social skills groups. The weekly commitment is 20–24 hours across three in-person days, typically divided between approximately 10–12 hours of direct clinical services and 10–12 hours of supervision, didactics, observation, case conferences, and other professional learning activities. Schedules may include daytime, after-school/evening, and weekend clinical blocks. All three orientation days, scheduled for May 11–13, 2027, are required regardless of start date. Available start dates are May 10, June 7, July 6, or August 2, 2027; the placement ends 12 months after the start date. The locations are MPG offices on the Upper West Side and/or in Long Island City. The offices are accessible by public transportation but are not wheelchair accessible. Off-site training, such as home visits, may be available depending on trainee goals and program requirements. Applicants must be enrolled in a qualifying graduate program. Doctoral candidates are preferred, while qualified master's-level trainees may apply if their programs permit this training model. The placement process includes an application and supporting documents, phone screen, virtual and in-person interviews, placement offer, onboarding, and orientation. The internship/externship is unpaid and is not an employment contract. Manhattan Psychology Group describes itself as committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion and as an equal opportunity employer.
