About The Position

Manhattan Psychology Group is accepting applications for its 2027–2028 Hybrid Counseling & Testing Track, a part-time, in-person, unpaid clinical internship/externship for graduate trainees. The track combines evidence-based psychotherapy and comprehensive assessment services, serving children, adolescents, adults, and families. Trainees work alongside a multidisciplinary team of licensed psychologists, social workers, and behavioral health professionals, with intensive supervision and mentorship. The training year lasts 12 months from the trainee’s start date. Available start dates are May 10, June 7, July 6, or August 2, 2027. Mandatory orientation takes place May 11–13, 2027, and all three days are required for trainees starting in May, June, July, or August. Trainees develop skills in psychotherapy, diagnostic assessment, consultation, test administration and interpretation, integrated report writing, feedback, educational consultation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Their blended caseload includes both psychotherapy and comprehensive evaluations; the balance is individualized based on trainee interests, competency development, referral volume, and program requirements, while ensuring experience in both areas. Clinical concerns encountered may include anxiety, OCD, mood disorders, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, disruptive behavior disorders, learning differences, and other developmental, behavioral, and emotional concerns. The training schedule is 20–24 hours per week across three in-person days, with approximately 10–12 hours of direct clinical services and 10–12 hours of indirect clinical and professional learning activities. Possible schedules include daytime and after-school/evening blocks, or a daytime block, an evening block, and a weekend block. Start and end times may vary according to client or clinician requirements and will be discussed before the program begins. MPG has overlapping cohorts of externs to help provide ongoing support. Off-site training opportunities, such as home visits, may be assigned based on a student’s training goals and program requirements. The offices are accessible by public transportation but are not wheelchair accessible. The role is an at-will training placement and is not an employment contract. Responsibilities may be modified, and trainees may be asked to perform other role-related duties as directed by their supervisor.
