About The Position

The Testing/Assessment Track is an advanced, part-time doctoral externship/internship for trainees seeking intensive experience in comprehensive psychological assessment. Trainees work with licensed psychologists and neuropsychologists in a collaborative multidisciplinary practice, gaining supervised experience with psychological, neuropsychological, psychoeducational, developmental, and autism evaluations. Training covers referral review, diagnostic interviewing, test selection and administration, behavioral observation, scoring, interpretation, integrated report writing, feedback, school consultation, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Trainees learn how assessment findings inform diagnoses, treatment planning, educational programming, and recommendations across home, school, and community settings. The majority of direct clinical experience is devoted to comprehensive evaluations. A limited psychotherapy caseload may be available, generally capped at approximately 20% of direct clinical services, to support diagnostic interviewing skills and connect assessment findings with treatment planning. The program offers intensive supervision and mentorship while trainees serve individuals with concerns including anxiety, OCD, mood disorders, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, disruptive behavior disorders, learning differences, and other developmental, behavioral, and emotional needs. The track is suited to trainees pursuing careers in pediatric psychology, school psychology, neuropsychology, psychological assessment, or integrated behavioral health. The schedule is at least 16 hours per week over two in-person clinical days, with the possibility of up to 24 hours over three days with program approval. The week generally includes approximately eight hours of direct clinical services and eight hours of indirect clinical and professional learning activities. Clinical days may be weekdays and/or weekends. Participation in all three mandatory orientation days, May 11–13, 2027, is required for trainees starting in May, June, July, or August. Available start dates are May 10, June 7, July 6, and August 2, 2027; the placement ends 12 months after the start date. The position is unpaid and based at MPG offices on the Upper West Side and/or in Long Island City. Off-site training opportunities, such as home visits, may be assigned according to trainee goals and program requirements. Manhattan Psychology Group is a multidisciplinary practice providing services including ABA, mental health care, psychological testing, and educational support in clinic, home, school, and telehealth settings. The organization emphasizes collaboration, professional growth, evidence-based practice, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
