This position supports the daily operations of the Bedford County Assistance Office by carrying out a wide range of clerical tasks that help keep public assistance processes on track. The work involves handling records, assisting clients, managing mail, and supporting staff needs.

Requirements

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Graduation from high school; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Submission of criminal history reports (conditional offer of employment).
  • Pass a background investigation.

Responsibilities

  • Complete file clearances, register applications, and import electronic submissions
  • Maintain, purge, and organize records, including closed files and state retention materials
  • Assist visitors, route calls, distribute mail, and update daily logs
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail, scan and attach documents, and manage postage tasks
  • Create EBT cards, maintain logs, and secure required approvals
  • Prepare MIPAA requests, process CAOAA checks, and assist with general clerical duties
