About The Position

Denali is seeking a dependable Class A CDL Route Driver for a food-waste collection route serving Rochester, Weedsport, and Auburn, New York. The driver will operate a power unit with a Wabo dump trailer, primarily collecting food waste from Tops and Walmart locations and transporting it to a designated digester. Routes generally operate within New York, with occasional travel to Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New Jersey to support routes or move equipment. The role requires flexibility to accommodate early starts, frequent schedule and route changes, route coverage, and equipment moves. Typical start times are between 2:00 AM and 5:00 AM. Drivers perform pre- and post-trip inspections, follow safe loading and unloading procedures, care for equipment, maintain accurate logs and service records, and report equipment, maintenance, safety, or DOT concerns. Winter driving—including some snowfall, snow-covered roads, and ice—is expected; operations pause during severe snowstorms. The job involves outdoor work, changing weather, food-waste odors, equipment inspections and greasing, climbing into and out of equipment, and wearing required personal protective equipment. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring sound judgment and attention to personal and public safety. The position is full-time and hourly, with pay up to $32.00 per hour, overtime available, and weekly pay. The posting offers a $7,500 sign-on bonus for eligible new hires, paid in installments at 90 days, 180 days, and the first anniversary, subject to the stated employment and good-standing conditions. It also lists a $1,000 annual retention bonus, a $150 boot credit, and the PEAKS Safety Program raffle prizes. Denali describes its work as organic recycling that transforms unused food and organics into resources, with stated aims including keeping water clean, reducing landfill needs, building soil fertility, supporting farmer resilience, and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
