Claims Adjuster Trainee - Williamsville, NY
About The Position
Progressive is hiring a Claims Adjuster Trainee to learn how to help customers recover after accidents. This is not a field position; the role involves building relationships with customers over the phone and learning to resolve a full caseload of claims efficiently while managing the claims process from start to finish. Training includes property damage and insurance contracts, with coaching and support from leaders and colleagues so trainees can eventually adjust claims independently. The position is hybrid for the first 12 months: employees work in the office two days selected by local leadership and choose whether to work from home or the office for the other three days. After 12 months, required office days will vary based on business needs. Employees may work from the office more often if they prefer. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Progressive's Williamsville Claims office at 6400 Main Street, Williamsville, NY 14221. During training, the schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. After training, the schedule is Monday through Friday, either 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., depending on business needs. After training and successful completion of any necessary testing requirements, salary ranges from $60,500 to $63,000 per year. During training, employees are paid hourly based on their annual salary. The role is eligible for an annual Gainshare cash incentive of up to 16% of eligible earnings based on company performance.
Requirements
- Meet one of the following minimum qualifications: three years of work experience; a bachelor's degree; or two years of work experience and an associate degree.
- Reside within 50 miles of Progressive's Williamsville Claims office at 6400 Main Street, Williamsville, NY 14221.
Responsibilities
- Determine coverage.
- Determine liability, including who is at fault for damages.
- Interview customers, claimants, and witnesses.
- Partner with appraisers and estimators to manage vehicle repairs.
- Negotiate with customers and other insurance carriers and resolve claims.
