Claims Adjuster Trainee - Williamsville, NY
About The Position
Progressive is hiring a Claims Adjuster Trainee to help customers recover after vehicle accidents. This is not a field position; the trainee builds relationships with customers over the phone and learns to manage claims from start to finish in a fast-paced environment. The role includes resolving a full caseload efficiently, with support from a collaborative team and ongoing coaching from leaders. Progressive provides in-depth training in property damage and insurance contracts so trainees can independently adjust claims. The position is hybrid for the first 12 months. Employees work in the office two days selected by local leadership and may choose to work from home or in the office the other three days. After 12 months, office attendance for meetings, training, and collaboration will vary based on business needs. Employees may choose to work in the office more often. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Progressive’s Williamsville Claims office at 6400 Main Street, Williamsville, NY 14221. During training, the schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. After training, the schedule is Monday through Friday, either 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., depending on business needs. After training and any necessary testing, salary ranges from $60,500 to $63,000 per year. During training, employees are paid hourly based on their annual salary. The role is eligible for an annual Gainshare cash incentive payment of up to 16% of eligible earnings based on company performance.
Requirements
- Three years of work experience, or a bachelor’s degree, or two years of work experience and an associate degree.
- Must reside within 50 miles of Progressive’s Williamsville Claims office at 6400 Main Street, Williamsville, NY 14221.
Responsibilities
- Determine coverage.
- Determine liability, including who is at fault for damages.
- Interview customers, claimants, and witnesses.
- Partner with appraisers and estimators to manage vehicle repairs.
- Negotiate with customers and other insurance carriers and resolve claims.
- Manage claims from start to finish and resolve a full caseload efficiently.
