About The Position

As a Structural Engineering Intern, you will work under the guidance of experienced engineers to support design and construction activities for large energy infrastructure projects including substations, transmission lines, data centers, and others. You will assist with tasks such as load development, code review, framing design, foundation design, and permitting support. This role is primarily office-based, with opportunities for occasional site visits.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field with a focus on structural design.
  • Completed coursework in civil engineering and structural fundamentals (e.g., structures, concrete, steel).
  • Familiarity with structural modeling software such as RISA, STAAD, etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and take direction from senior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing structural design drawings and specifications.
  • Support framing and foundation design calculations under supervision.
  • Help coordinate structural member and connection design and contribute to project construction plans.
  • Participate in developing cost estimates and project documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineers and construction managers to ensure project goals are met.
  • Perform basic research and prepare reports or presentations as needed.
  • Attend team meetings and learn about design-build (DB) and engineer-procure-construct (EPC) delivery methods.
