About The Position

The Poughkeepsie, NY Office of Modjeski and Masters Inc., is seeking students interested in an internship focused on Bridge Design and Analysis. As a member of our team, you'll be performing engineering tasks under the careful supervision of established and respected professionals. You'll have opportunities to interact with clients, become a valued partner on a variety of high-impact projects, and apply fresh insights at every stage of a bridge's life cycle. Instead of following in the footsteps of others in the bridge services field, you'll be part of a team that is leading the way. Many of our projects result in new techniques and new standards for everyone else to follow.

Requirements

Working towards a BS degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university
Ideal Candidate will have completed at least two of following courses, Concrete Design, Steel Design; Prestressed Concrete Design; Structural Analysis.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

Assisting in the review and verification of standard structural design calculations.
Supporting the structural analysis and design of bridge components using engineering software tools.
Helping develop preliminary design details using CAD software and providing input to CAD technicians for contract plan development.
Contributing to design reports by compiling relevant technical information.
Communicating effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, in a professional engineering environment.
Reviewing and checking engineering drawings under the close supervision of a Senior Engineer.
Gain exposure of structural analysis and design software such as LUSAS, RISA-3D, LEAP Bridge, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
Learning and applying relevant design specifications and standards, including AASHTO, AREMA, AISC, and ACI.
