About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU) partners with nonprofit organizations identified by the IRS as 501(c)(3) to improve the quality of life for community residents. GCU has a partnership with Hope Women’s Center, which offers free life skills classes, mentoring, job training, and programs for expectant mothers, mothers, and children. This Community Service Learning Program (CSLP) student worker position is approved as Community Service, providing services to non-GCU community members. The work schedule is dependent on Hope Women’s Center's hours of operation and needs, with a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year. Applicants must complete their FAFSA to be reviewed for Federal Work-Study (FWS) eligibility.

Requirements

  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a bachelor’s program or master’s program.
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Mentoring a plus.
  • Ability to speak a second language a plus.
  • Spanish-speaking a plus

Responsibilities

  • Care for children ages 0 – 5 while mothers use Hope Women’s Center services.
  • Greet visitors and answer their questions.
  • Assist with donation sorting and stocking Women’s boutique.
  • Provide administrative and classroom technology support.
  • Assist as needed.
