CHEF (FULL TIME AND PART TIME)
About The Position
Gourmet Dining & Chartwells Higher Education is hiring full-time and part-time Chefs at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, New Jersey. The Chef directs, coordinates, and evaluates kitchen, food-production, and food-service associates. The role supervises and participates in food preparation, cooking, and service; ensures food-handling, sanitation, and customer-service standards; and prepares high-quality items according to standardized recipes and production schedules. Schedules and hours may vary, with details provided during the interview. Prior chef experience is preferred, and the employer is willing to train. The advertised pay range is $23.00 to $25.00 per hour.

Responsibilities
- Supervise, coordinate, and participate in the activities of cooks and other associates preparing, cooking, and serving food.
- Ensure food-handling, sanitation, and customer-service standards are met.
- Supervise hourly kitchen associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews, and recommending disciplinary action.
- Prepare high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and production, delivery, and service schedules; serve meals or prepare them for delivery.
- Ensure proper presentation, food quality, portion control, and serving temperatures.
- Track food use, waste, and consumption to requisition or purchase products.
- Receive and inspect products and supplies for quality and quantity and maintain appropriate inventory.
- Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils; thoroughly clean the workstation before leaving and keep display equipment clean during meal service.
- Help select and develop recipes and menus.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
