About The Position
Canteen is hiring a full-time Chef at Applied Underwriters in Omaha, Nebraska. The Chef directs, coordinates, and evaluates kitchen, food production, and food-service associates. The role includes preparing and serving food while ensuring food-handling, sanitation, customer-service, presentation, quality, portion-control, and temperature standards are met. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with hours that may vary; further details are provided during the interview.

- Previous kitchen experience.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, coordinate, and participate in the work of cooks and other associates preparing, cooking, and serving food.
- Ensure food-handling, sanitation, and customer-service standards are met.
- Supervise hourly kitchen associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews, and recommending disciplinary action.
- Prepare high-quality food according to standardized recipes and production, delivery, and service schedules.
- Serve meals or prepare food for delivery.
- Ensure proper presentation, food quality, portion control, and serving temperatures.
- Track food use, waste, and consumption to requisition or purchase products.
- Receive and inspect products and supplies for quality and quantity, and maintain appropriate inventory.
- Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils, and thoroughly clean the workstation before leaving.
- Keep display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service, in compliance with sanitation, safety, production, and merchandising requirements.
- Help select and develop recipes and menus.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
