CHEF (FULL TIME)
About The Position
Canteen is hiring a full-time Chef at Applied Underwriters in Omaha, Nebraska. The Chef directs, coordinates, and evaluates assigned kitchen, food production, and food-service associates. This position supervises and participates in food preparation, cooking, and service, ensuring food-handling, sanitation, and customer-service standards are met. The Chef prepares quality food according to standardized recipes and service schedules, maintains presentation and portion standards, tracks food use and inventory, and helps develop recipes and menus. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with hours that may vary. Previous kitchen experience is required.

Responsibilities
- Supervise, coordinate, and participate in the work of cooks and other associates preparing, cooking, and serving food.
- Ensure food-handling, sanitation, and customer-service standards are met.
- Supervise hourly kitchen associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews, and recommending disciplinary action.
- Prepare high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and production, delivery, and service schedules.
- Serve meals or prepare meals for delivery.
- Ensure proper food presentation, quality, portion control, and serving temperatures.
- Track food use, waste, and consumption to requisition or purchase products.
- Receive and inspect products and supplies for quality and quantity and maintain appropriate inventory.
- Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils; thoroughly clean the workstation and keep display equipment clean during meal service.
- Help select and develop recipes and menus.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
