About The Position
The Syracuse City School District is seeking dedicated and diverse educators to partner in moving the district toward its goals. Nottingham High School is looking for Varsity/JV/Modified Cheer Head Coaches for the Fall/Winter seasons. The district offers 120 different athletic teams for students in grades 7-12, with a coaching staff that is certified, dedicated, and enjoys working with student athletes. The modified program (grades 7-8) emphasizes skill development, participation, discipline, enjoyment, competition, and the value of hard work, rather than winning. The high school teams (freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity) focus on refining skills, striving for success, and developing academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
Requirements
- New York State Coaching Certification
- Valid First Aid course
- Valid Adult CPR certification
- Workshop - Child Abuse Identification
- Workshop - School Violence Intervention and Prevention
- Workshop - Dignity For All Students Act (DASA)
- Fingerprint Clearance
- School District Recommendation
- Pass a fingerprint-based background check ($102.50 cost to candidate)

- Previous Coaching Experience
Responsibilities
- Coach Varsity/JV/Modified Cheerleading teams for Fall/Winter seasons.
- Develop student athletes' skills, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
- Prepare young student athletes for higher levels of competition.
- Foster a positive and disciplined environment that emphasizes enjoyment of play and the rewards of hard work.
Benefits
