About The Position
The Syracuse City School District is seeking dedicated and diverse educators to partner in moving the district toward its goals. Henninger High School is hiring Cheer Head Coaches (Varsity/JV/Modified - Fall/Winter). The district offers 120 different athletic teams for students in grades 7-12, with a coaching staff of certified, dedicated individuals who enjoy working with student athletes. The modified program (grades 7-8) emphasizes skill development, participation, discipline, enjoyment, competition, and the value of hard work, preparing students for higher levels of competition. High school teams (freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity) focus on refining skills, striving for success, and developing academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
Requirements
- New York State Coaching Certification
- Valid First Aid course
- Valid Adult CPR certification
- Workshop - Child Abuse Identification
- Workshop - School Violence Intervention and Prevention
- Workshop - Dignity For All Students Act (DASA)
- Fingerprint Clearance
- School District Recommendation
- Pass a fingerprint-based background check

- Valid Concussion Management Certificate
- Previous Coaching Experience
Responsibilities
- Coach Varsity/JV/Modified Cheerleading teams for Fall/Winter seasons.
- Develop student athletes' skills, discipline, and sportsmanship.
- Prepare student athletes for higher levels of competition.
- Emphasize academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship at the high school level.
- Encourage maximum participation and stress discipline, enjoyment, competition, and hard work at the modified level.
