About The Position

The Syracuse City School District is seeking dedicated and diverse educators to partner in its mission of ensuring all students graduate high school with the skills needed for college and career readiness. The district serves approximately 19,000 students across 35 schools and programs. Successful educators are passionately committed to urban education, believe all students can learn at high levels, and are dedicated to closing the achievement gap. The Corcoran High School is looking for Cheer Head Coaches for Varsity/JV/Modified teams, participating in both Fall and Winter seasons. The district offers 120 athletic teams for students in grades 7-12, with a coaching staff that is certified, dedicated, and focused on student athletes' development. The modified program (grades 7-8) emphasizes skill development, participation, discipline, enjoyment, competition, and the value of hard work, rather than winning. The high school teams (freshman, JV, Varsity) focus on refining skills, higher-level competition, academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.

Requirements

• New York State Coaching Certification
• Valid First Aid course
• Valid Adult CPR certification
• Workshop - Child Abuse Identification
• Workshop - School Violence Intervention and Prevention
• Workshop - Dignity For All Students Act (DASA)
• Fingerprint Clearance
• School District Recommendation
• Pass a fingerprint-based background check ($102.50 cost to candidate)

• Valid Concussion Management Certificate
• Previous Coaching Experience

Responsibilities

• Coach Varsity/JV/Modified Cheerleading teams for Fall/Winter seasons.
