About The Position

The Certified Central Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for reprocessing sterile and non-sterile materials, instruments, and equipment for surgery and other hospital units. The role includes manual cleaning and decontamination, operating mechanical washers and sonic units, testing autoclaves for efficiency, and maintaining compliant records. The technician assists with the recall process as needed and helps educate and train staff, including new hires, on quality assurance, performance improvement, and departmental compliance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 6 months of experience as a CS/SPD Technician or other relevant experience.
• Current CBSPD or IAHCSMM certification, or 15+ years of experience in lieu of certification. Certification must be kept current.
