About The Position
The Certified Sterile Processing Tech works in the Sterile Processing department at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. This full-time position is scheduled for evenings and offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus. The role operates sterilization equipment; inspects instruments, equipment, and containers for cleanliness and proper function; decontaminates items according to instructions for use and established protocols; corrects instrument sets using current standards and count sheets or tracking systems; maintains inventory for case carts; and audits peers as part of a quality assurance program.
Requirements
- Obtain BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
- Have a Registered Nurse credential from the Tennessee Board of Nursing before hire or job transfer.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent, or one year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience. Required professional licensure or certification may be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
Responsibilities
- Operate sterilization equipment and inspect instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
- Decontaminate soiled instruments, sterilization containers, and equipment according to instructions for use (IFUs) and established protocols.
- Correct instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets, and/or instrument tracking systems.
- Maintain proper inventory levels to ensure availability for case carts.
- Perform regular quality assurance program audits of peers.
