About The Position

At SageWest Health Care, the Certified Sterile Processing Tech performs decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instruments and patient care equipment. The role ensures sterile processing standards are consistently met in compliance with regulatory and manufacturer guidelines and provides mentorship to new or uncertified staff. The position is full-time, with hours of 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

SageWest Health Care serves Fremont County, Wyoming, and operates hospitals in Riverton and Lander. Its services include inpatient medical care, emergency, surgical, imaging, laboratory, primary care, infusion, and women’s health services.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) or CBSPD (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) certification.
• Comprehensive understanding of sterile processing standards, including AAMI, AORN, and TJC.
• Proficiency in using tracking systems and sterilization equipment.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and procedural concerns.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of an accredited central sterile processing program.
• 1–2 years of experience in sterile processing or surgical services.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform all aspects of sterile processing.
• Maintain high standards for quality assurance and sterility validation.
• Assist with department audits and documentation review.
• Train and support onboarding of new staff and students.
• Participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives.
• Maintain records of biological and chemical indicators.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and infection control standards.
• Provide mentorship to new or uncertified staff.
