About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for caring for residents in an assisted living community under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), LPN/LVN, or Director of Health & Wellness. The role supports residents’ health, daily living needs, independence, dignity, and emotional and social well-being while following the schedule of needs established by a supervisor. The position is part-time and is described as an AM role. CNA licensure may be required depending on state requirements and regulations.

Requirements

High school diploma or General Education Degree; alternatively, one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least one year of clinical/nursing experience.
CNA licensure, depending on state requirements and regulations.
Sufficient proficiency in English to perform job duties, communicate with supervisors and other employees, and respond to and communicate during emergencies.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to work as part of a team and handle multiple tasks safely and effectively.
Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
Dedicated, compassionate, and energetic personal attributes.

Responsibilities

Take and record vital signs.
Measure and record residents’ height, weight, and fluid intake and output.
Recognize abnormal changes in body functioning and report them to a supervisor.
Assist as needed with medication reminders, bathing, grooming, dressing, escort service, and other activities of daily living.
Transfer, position, and turn residents.
Provide skin care to residents.
Contribute to residents’ assessments and plans of care.
Provide nursing rehabilitation and restorative nursing services.
Follow the schedule of residents’ needs set out by a supervisor.
Provide emotional and social support to residents.
Promote and protect resident rights; help residents make informed decisions; treat residents with dignity and respect; protect personal belongings; report suspected abuse or neglect; avoid physical restraints in accordance with current professional standards; and support independent expression, choice, and decision-making consistent with applicable law and regulation.
Inform a supervisor of resident issues or concerns.
Encourage residents’ independence and dignity.
Respect residents’ confidentiality.
