Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) II
About The Position
Axia Women's Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) II for their South Jersey Fertility Center in Marlton, NJ. This role involves assisting with patient care, recording critical patient information, and providing information to patients to ensure they can fully utilize and benefit from the clinical services. The CMA will adhere to OSHA guidelines, infection control protocols, and prepare exam/procedure rooms. Responsibilities include patient transfers, maintaining patient records by documenting medical history and vital signs, collecting specimens, assisting providers with procedures, relaying instructions to patients, and completing necessary forms. The position also requires adherence to patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations. The role may involve on-call duties for procedures on Sundays as needed during weekend shifts.
Requirements
- High school Diploma or GED, some college preferred.
- Successful completion as a Medical Assistant, such as CMA, CCMA, RMA or NCMAA required.
- CPR/BLS Certification required
- Minimum 1 year of recent medical assistant experience in a medical facility/office or combination of experience and documented evidence of medical assistant internship.
- Phlebotomy skills.
- Ability to independently obtain patient vital signs.
- Positive and professional attitude.
- Strong attention to detail & communication skills.
- Successful ability to work with teams across the business to maximize the impact of the overall business effort.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and at satellite location(s) where applicable, as needed.
Nice To Haves
- OB/GYN or Women's Health experience preferred.
- EMR experience beneficial.
Responsibilities
- Adhering to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and standardized quality control methods and, per infection control protocols, preparing exam/procedure rooms between patient visits, cleaning rooms, setting up instruments and equipment, and maintaining and cleaning sterilizer according to scheduled maintenance program.
- Accompanying patients to exam/procedure room, assisting as needed with walking transfers or dressing.
- Maintaining patient records by accurately recording patient medical history, obtaining, and recording patient vital signs, symptoms, complaints, and medications, etc., and obtaining and scanning any lab or imaging reports, as well as any hospital notes into the EMR in order that the provider may have complete patient information.
- Performing venipuncture and collecting specimens as needed.
- Assisting provider with various procedures and screenings.
- Relaying instructions and pertinent information to patients.
- Completing form/requestions as needed to ensure patient records are accurate and that claims can be properly billed.
- Adhering to Patient Confidentiality Policies and HIPAA regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
