CDL-A Trainee Driver - Paid Training - Dedicated Retail - Home Weekly
About The Position
NIS Express is hiring CDL-A trainee drivers in Hempstead, New York, for a dedicated retail account. Drivers receive 4 to 6 weeks of paid on-road mentorship with an experienced trainer and can begin earning full solo pay after completing training. Training pay is $850 per week for New York residents. Once driving solo, drivers average $1,700 to $2,000 in weekly gross pay, with a mileage rate of $0.85 to $0.90 per mile for about 2,100 miles per week. Deliveries into New York City's five boroughs receive an additional $75 per delivery. The account involves dedicated retail freight and round-trip store routes across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Every run starts and ends at the same location, and drivers serve one customer. Drivers are home weekly, with dispatch working to get them home as often as possible. Day and night shifts are available. Riders and pets are allowed after training. Drivers must safely deliver freight to retail stores, complete vehicle inspections and electronic logs, comply with DOT and hours-of-service rules, and communicate with dispatch and store teams. Weekend and holiday work is scheduled, including during peak season from October through December.
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Graduated from a verifiable CDL school with at least 120 hours of training.
- No prior over-the-road experience is required.
- No more than 2 moving violations in the past 2 years.
- No major preventable accidents in the past 5 years.
- No DUI/DWI in the past 5 to 10 years.
- Must pass hair and urine drug testing.
Responsibilities
- Safely deliver freight to retail stores, including locations in New York City.
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs.
- Follow DOT regulations and hours-of-service rules.
- Communicate clearly with dispatch and store teams.
- Work weekends and holidays as scheduled, including peak season from October to December.
