CDL A Driver - New CDL Welcome - Paid Training
About The Position
San Jose drivers can build a career on a western regional fleet that keeps runs short, usually no more than 2 days from home, and trains new CDL holders on the road. This position involves dry van freight across the 11 western states, with an average of 1,700 to 2,100 miles per week. Drivers can expect to be home every 2 weeks, with the option to run past the western states for more miles. The pay structure includes average weekly earnings of $1,000 to $1,300, a standard mileage pay scale that grows with experience, up to 6 cents per mile extra in performance bonus, and $15 stop pay. There are two ways to start: for those with a CDL-A but no experience (requiring 120+ hours from an accredited CDL school), there is paid training with a driver trainer, paid weekly. Experienced drivers (6 months OTR in the last 12 months, or 12 months in the last 5 years) can skip training and go straight to their own truck.
Requirements
- Class A CDL
- 21 or older
- No more than 2 moving violations in 2 years
- Able to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
- 120+ hours from an accredited CDL school (for new CDL drivers)
- 6 months OTR in the last 12 months, or 12 months in the last 5 years (for experienced drivers)
Responsibilities
- Drive dry van freight across the 11 western states.
- Complete 1,700 to 2,100 miles per week.
- Be home every 2 weeks.
- Option to run past the western states for more miles.
- Participate in paid training with a driver trainer if new to CDL driving.
- Operate a truck solo once training is complete.
