About The Position

American Trucking Group is hiring a dedicated flatbed driver to haul stainless-steel coils and sheets. Dedicated outbound loads originate near Calvert, Alabama. After delivery, drivers pick up available flatbed backhauls intended to position them toward Alabama rather than routinely returning empty. The route cycle provides home time every weekend with a 34-hour reset. Drivers transport smaller stainless-steel coils and flat stainless-steel sheets. Freight is primarily live loaded and live unloaded, and approximately 75% of outbound loads require tarping. Drivers are assigned a newer-model Kenworth T680 tractor and a 2025 Extreme 48-foot flatbed trailer, keeping the same trailer throughout the trip. The trailer is equipped with 12 winches and straps and two lightweight six-foot drop tarps; trailer drop-and-hook operation is not used. Weekly earnings are $2,000 to $2,100. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available to qualified drivers, and tarp compensation is included in the account’s overall pay program. Monday-through-Thursday orientation pays $100 per day; hotel accommodations, meals, and travel arrangements are provided.

Requirements

Valid CDL-A license.
At least one year of OTR experience within the last five years.
At least six months of flatbed experience.
Steel-hauling experience.
Current coil-hauling certification.
Tarping and load-securement experience.
Acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

Haul dedicated stainless-steel outbound loads, including smaller coils and flat sheets.
Pick up available flatbed backhaul freight after delivery to help position toward Alabama.
Handle primarily live-loaded and live-unloaded freight.
Tarp outbound loads when required; approximately 75% require tarping.
Secure steel freight using the provided winches, straps, and tarps.
Keep the assigned trailer throughout the trip; trailer drop-and-hook operation is not used.
