About The Position

The Cashier processes member purchases in a courteous and friendly manner, including verifying, renewing, and upgrading memberships; offering membership products; scanning merchandise; and accepting payments. The role provides efficient, high-quality member service and helps maintain cleanliness in the front-line department. Cashiers support club policies and procedures, contribute to a safe and inclusive environment, and work collaboratively to meet club standards and goals. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

Responsibilities

• Explain BJ’s membership options and offer appropriate products, including renewals, the EASY renewal option, loyalty programs, and rewards redemption.
• Provide a high level of customer service and check members out in a timely and efficient manner.
• Scan merchandise through the point-of-sale system to ensure accurate inventory counts and purchase totals.
• Fill shopping carts when necessary and assist at self-checkout stations.
• Collect cash, checks, and other forms of payment; issue receipts and make change.
• Stay current on merchandise promotions, advertisements, and product information.
• Apply discounts by scanning and redeeming coupons.
• Maintain cleanliness in the frontline area and assist with general club housekeeping when needed.
• Return resellable merchandise to the sales floor.
• Manage self-checkout and scan-and-pan lanes, and assist members with operational or technical difficulties.
• Meet cashier productivity expectations and follow club policies and procedures.
• Perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
