About The Position

The Cashier at Sam's Alley is responsible for accurately processing customer transactions in a fast-paced food service environment. The role operates a cash register, handles cash and electronic payments, provides friendly customer service, and maintains a clean, organized checkout area. The cashier also helps restock inventory and meet health and safety standards.

The position includes monitoring line speed and front-area inventory, bussing and cleaning tables, running food to guests, helping café team members during slower periods, and assisting with food preparation. The employee must be willing to step into any kitchen role. Kitchen experience is a plus.

This is a seasonal position for Winter 2026–27, offered as full-time or part-time work. The seasonal wage range is $13.00 to $14.00 per hour plus tips. Minimum age is 14. No background check or driver verification is required.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 14.
• English reading, writing, and communication skills, plus basic math ability.
• Basic computer knowledge and comfort using a computer-based point-of-sale system.
• Ability to stand or walk for up to 8 hours per shift.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Guest service or cashier experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate the cash register and process customer payments, including handling cash and balancing the register.
• Maintain efficient line speed and provide excellent guest service at the register.
• Monitor inventory levels and maintain proper stock rotation in the front area.
• Bus and clean tables.
• Run food to guests.
• Keep the front area clean, organized, and well-stocked in accordance with health and safety standards.
• Assist other café team members with various tasks during slow periods as needed.
• Help with food preparation.
• Be willing to step into any kitchen role.
