About The Position

The Cashier processes member purchases courteously and efficiently, including scanning merchandise, handling payments, and verifying, renewing, upgrading, and offering membership products. The role provides excellent member service, maintains the cleanliness of the front-line department, and supports club policies, procedures, and compliance. Cashiers work collaboratively to provide a safe, positive, inclusive experience and uphold BJ’s GOLD Member and Club Standards.

Requirements

• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Basic math skills preferred.
• Prior cashier or sales experience preferred.
• Frequently lift objects up to 50 pounds; heavier or awkward objects may require assistance.
• Occasionally bend, handle, pull, reach, or stoop to examine or scan merchandise.

Responsibilities

• Explain membership options and offer appropriate products, including renewals, EASY renewal, BJ’s Loyalty programs, and Rewards redemption.
• Provide a high level of customer service and resolve or escalate member concerns as appropriate.
• Check members out in a timely and efficient manner using the point-of-sale system, ensuring accurate purchase totals and inventory counts.
• Fill shopping carts when necessary and assist at self-checkout stations and scan-and-pan lanes.
• Collect cash, checks, and other payments; issue receipts and provide change due.
• Stay current on merchandise promotions, advertisements, and product information.
• Apply discounts by scanning and redeeming coupons.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the front-line area and assist with general club housekeeping when needed.
• Return resellable merchandise to the sales floor.
• Assist members with operational and technical difficulties.
• Meet cashier productivity expectations and follow club policies and procedures.
• Perform other assigned duties, including work in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Work as a team to uphold GOLD Club Standards, including stocking items, executing promotions, maintaining accurate signage, and keeping the club clean and organized.
