About The Position

The Cashier processes member purchases courteously and efficiently, verifies and promotes membership products, scans merchandise, and accepts payments. The role provides excellent member service, maintains front-line cleanliness, supports self-checkout, and helps uphold club policies, safety, and service standards. Team members may perform other duties or work in other departments as needed.

Requirements

• Basic math skills preferred.
• Prior cashier or sales experience preferred.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Ability to frequently lift objects up to 50 pounds; heavier or awkward objects may need to be moved with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Explain membership options and offer appropriate renewals, EASY renewal, BJ’s Loyalty programs, and Rewards redemption.
• Provide a high level of customer service and check members out in a timely and efficient manner.
• Scan merchandise through the point-of-sale system to ensure accurate inventory counts and purchase totals.
• Fill shopping carts when necessary and assist at self-checkout stations.
• Collect cash, checks, and other payments; issue receipts or change.
• Stay current on merchandise promotions, advertisements, and product information.
• Apply discounts by scanning and redeeming coupons.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the front-line area and assist with general club housekeeping as needed.
• Return resellable merchandise to the sales floor.
• Manage self-checkout and scan-and-pan lanes and assist members with operational or technical difficulties.
• Meet cashier productivity expectations and follow club policies and procedures.
• Perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Support safe, positive, inclusive member and team experiences; address or escalate member concerns appropriately.
• Work with the team to maintain daily GOLD club standards, including stocking, promotional execution, accurate signage, and clean, organized areas.
• Understand how to access and read departmental production or financial performance reporting.
