About The Position

The Cashier processes member purchases courteously and efficiently, providing excellent member service while verifying, renewing, and upgrading memberships and offering membership products. The role scans merchandise, accepts payments, maintains the cleanliness of the front-line department, and may assist with self-checkout, general housekeeping, returns, or work in other departments as needed. The posted schedule is Wednesday and Thursday between 3:00 p.m. and 9:15 p.m., with weekends open. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

Responsibilities

• Process member purchases in a courteous, friendly, timely, and efficient manner.
• Explain membership options and offer appropriate renewals, EASY renewal, BJ’s Loyalty programs, and Rewards redemption.
• Scan merchandise through the point-of-sale system to ensure accurate inventory counts and purchase totals; fill carts when necessary.
• Collect cash, checks, and other payments, and issue receipts or change.
• Stay current on merchandise promotions, advertisements, product information, and coupons; apply discounts by scanning and redeeming coupons.
• Assist members at self-checkout and scan-and-pan lanes, including resolving operational or technical difficulties.
• Meet cashier productivity expectations.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the front-line area and assist with club housekeeping when needed.
• Return resellable merchandise to the sales floor.
• Follow club policies and procedures and perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
• Deliver service excellence, address and deescalate member concerns, and help maintain a safe and positive environment.
• Support daily GOLD member and club standards, including greeting members, maintaining stocked items and accurate signage, and keeping areas clean and organized.
• Understand how to access and read department production or financial performance reporting and how execution affects business results.
