About The Position

The Cashier processes member purchases in a courteous and friendly manner, including verifying, renewing, and upgrading memberships; scanning merchandise; and accepting multiple forms of payment. The role provides efficient member service, maintains cleanliness in the front-line department, and may assist with general club housekeeping or work in other departments as needed. The stated schedule is Wednesday and Friday between 3:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., with open availability on weekends.

Responsibilities

• Explain BJ’s membership options and offer appropriate membership products, renewals, EASY renewal, loyalty programs, and rewards redemption.
• Provide a high level of customer service and check members out in a timely and efficient manner.
• Scan merchandise through the point-of-sale system to ensure accurate inventory counts and purchase totals.
• Fill shopping carts when necessary and assist at self-checkout stations.
• Collect payments by cash, check, or other charge methods, and issue receipts or change.
• Stay current on merchandise promotions, advertisements, and product information; scan and redeem coupons.
• Maintain cleanliness in the front-line area and assist with general club housekeeping when needed.
• Return resellable merchandise to the sales floor.
• Manage self-checkout and scan-and-pan lanes and help members with operational or technical difficulties.
• Meet cashier productivity expectations and follow club policies and procedures.
• Perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Support club standards, safe and positive member experiences, teamwork, inclusion, and the GOLD Member Standards.
