About The Position

The Cannabis Advisor provides individualized customer service and educational consulting in a retail environment, and may manage patient records in some cases. The role helps customers and patients navigate cannabis products and understand their types, methods of use, and efficacy as wellness products, without providing medical advice. The position also supports store operations, inventory, transactions, and compliance with applicable cannabis regulations.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
1–2 years of retail or hospitality experience.
At least 21 years of age and compliance with local, state, and company regulations.
Successful completion of a criminal background check and applicable state badging as directed by state ordinances.
Desire to learn about cannabinoids, terpenes, and product applications and consumption methods.
Ability to use office equipment, including computers and printers, and software such as Word, Excel, and email.
Ability to learn and understand federal, state, and local cannabis-industry laws and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

Greet customers and patients with a positive attitude and advocate for cannabis customer care.
Help customers and patients navigate cannabis and explain how it may be used as a wellness product.
Build rapport with regular patients and customers to encourage repeat business.
Work collaboratively in a fast-paced retail environment.
Provide information about cannabis product types, methods, and efficacy without providing medical advice.
Remain open to ongoing cannabis education and training.
Support managers and other Cannabis Advisors as needed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized workstation and storefront.
Verify the accuracy of online orders before pickup.
Understand and apply applicable local and state compliance regulations.
Stock, merchandise, and replenish displays of regulated and unregulated inventory.
Process transactions at the point of sale and ensure the state-monitored inventory system accurately reflects available product.
Perform other duties as assigned.
