About The Position

The Cannabis Advisor provides individualized customer service and educational consulting to cannabis customers and patients, and may manage patient records. The role involves helping customers navigate cannabis products and understand their types, methods of use, and efficacy as wellness products, without providing medical advice. Advisors also support retail operations, maintain compliance with applicable regulations, process sales and online orders, and keep inventory and displays accurate and organized.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of retail or hospitality experience.
• Must be at least 21 years old and comply with local, state, and company regulations.
• Must undergo a criminal background check and obtain appropriate state badging as directed by state ordinances.
• Desire to learn about cannabinoids, terpenes, and product applications and consumption methods.
• Ability to use office equipment, including computers and printers, and software such as Word, Excel, and email.
• Ability to learn and understand federal, state, and local cannabis-industry laws and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and patients with a positive attitude.
• Advocate for cannabis customer care.
• Help customers and patients navigate cannabis and educate them on its use as a wellness product.
• Build rapport with regular patients and customers to encourage repeat business.
• Work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment.
• Provide information about the types, methods, and efficacy of cannabis products without providing medical advice.
• Remain open to ongoing cannabis education and training.
• Support managers and other Cannabis Advisors as needed.
• Keep the workstation and storefront clean, organized, and sanitized.
• Check online orders for accuracy before pickup.
• Understand and apply applicable local and state compliance regulations.
• Stock, merchandise, and replenish displays of regulated and unregulated inventory.
• Complete point-of-sale transactions and ensure the state-monitored inventory system accurately updates available product quantities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
